“On February 5, 2026, at the invitation of Professor Tuhin Wadud of the Department of Bangla at Begum Rokeya University, who is also the Director of Riverine People, I went to see the Khoksha Ghaghat River located opposite the main gate of Begum Rokeya University in Rangpur. Formed by the confluence of the Shyamasundari and Burail rivers, the Khoksha Ghaghat River eventually merges into the Ghaghat River. Under the severe pressure of encroachment and pollution, the river is now almost dead! To call it dead would be wrong—it has turned into a foul-smelling drain! The sight weighed heavily on my heart and brought tears to my eyes. Yet, even amidst such harsh realities, the dedicated river and environmental leader, Tuhin bhai, continues to work tirelessly to protect the rights of rivers.”
